Lead batteries provide 75 percent of the world’s rechargeable energy storage needs, according to Essential Energy Everyday. Right here in Southeast Missouri, two new advanced lead battery microgrid systems power the Missouri University of Science & Technology’s (Missouri S&T) EcoVillage, a living laboratory of solar homes that Missouri S&T students designed and built to compete in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon.
