Free Family-Friendly Event April 26 Celebrates Minerals, Missouri’s Mining Heritage, and Music

ST. LOUIS (March 25, 2025) – The Doe Run Company (Doe Run) will once again present the annual Spring Rocks & Roll event at the Missouri Mines State Historic Site in Park Hills, Mo on Saturday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Sponsored by Doe Run and hosted by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Spring Rocks & Roll offers a unique blend of education, entertainment, and hands-on activities.

“We’re excited to once again offer so many interactive experiences at Spring Rocks & Roll,” said Desirae Jenkerson, event organizer and administrative assistant at Doe Run’s Buick Resource Recycling. “It is an event for all ages, and a great way for us to highlight the area’s rich mining history and showcase how minerals impact our everyday lives – all while having a ton of fun with family, friends, and the community.”

The Broseph Tucker Band will kick off the event at 11 a.m. and perform throughout. Food and soft drinks are available for purchase from multiple food trucks, including Baylee Jo’s BBQ and Holy Grounds Coffee.

The event features indoor and outdoor interactive activities, including a miniature mobile equipment obstacle course for children, a drone flying station for adults, “gold” panning, a mineral trivia game, and much more. In addition, the site’s museum, housing one of the region’s finest mineral collections, displaying machinery used in Missouri’s mines and interpreting the area’s lead mining history, will be open to the public.

Event goers will also have the rare opportunity to explore large-scale mining machinery and meet Doe Run’s Mine Rescue Team as they showcase training, equipment, and lifesaving techniques used to ensure miner safety. Upon entering, guests can register to win exciting prizes, such as bicycles, safety gear, and more.
