ST. LOUIS (December 21, 2021) – This holiday season, employees at The Doe Run Company (Doe Run) have come together to give back to the community in a variety of ways. In addition to Doe Run’s donation to the United Way, employees have focused on helping their neighbors and communities in Southeast Missouri.

In preparation for colder temperatures ahead, employees collected more than 100 hats, coats and gloves for Love of God Ministries Mission. Included were many children’s coats, which were promptly distributed to local students who had been showing up to school without them.

“We love spreading a little joy this time of year, and my coworkers and I were happy to pitch in,” said Vanessa Eckhoff, mill superintendent, who helped organize the coat drive. “The Mission was thrilled with the donations.”

Winter can also bring more financial stresses and food insecurity, so employees donated food and other non-perishable items to various local food pantries, including the Disabled Citizens Alliance for Independence Food Pantry in Viburnum, Missouri.

Additionally, many Doe Run locations are taking part in Adopt-A-Family programs for local charities and nonprofits, including through the Iron County C-4 Future Business Leaders of America – a Doe Run tradition for more than a decade. Employees purchased a variety of wish list items, like holiday gifts, essential supplies, hygiene items and food to help families through the holiday season.
